Oxymetazoline hci (Afrin, Mucinex and a few other brand names) is highly addictive.  It causes rebound congestion.  Your sinuses depend on the medicine to not feel congested.

You need to see a dr for a nasal spray to redeuce the swelling and inflamation (inflammation) in your sinuses.  that could probably be used only temporarily while you adjust to not using the other.  I would recommend that you use a saline rinse.  I like the NielMed bottle best.  I have heard the pepper spray (chemical - capsaicin sp?) but I don't think the people I know who used it thought it was very effective.  Eating hot pepper can be very effective though.

Any "natural" treatment is a chemical of some sort, it is just un-refined and usually less reliable as the pharmaceutical counter parts.

In the future if you decide to use oxymetazoline, limit your use to 3 days.  This will keep you from becoming addicted.  You can rotate 3 days using it followed by 3 days not using it.

Take care.
