allergic brochitis in 13mnth baby

are there any long term affect on a baby's health due to allergic (asthma)?
also what can i do to prevent any further attacks?

My name is Hanita. I have two boys that have been diagnosed with asthma.  One at the age of 13months the other at the age of 2years old.  They only way you can prevent reduce the attacks is by routine medical checks and please make sure that you stay on top of your childs medication.  If your child is taking albuterol sulfate by a nebulizer (breathing treatments) do as directed by the physician. I know if my son had an attack or bronchial spasms I'd have to give him a treatment every 4 hours for 24hours, and after that 3 times a day for 10 days.  After the ten day time period he was usually okay.  If not we made a trip to the doctor.  My son had attack everytime the seasons changed and if he became sick.  It always started with the runny nose, and cough due to sinus drainage.  That's about the best advice I could give for his age.  As children get older they may get prescribed singular tablets, or an inhaler.  We used the nebulizer until the age of 5 or 6.  Another thing I had to cut down on when my child had attacks was the consumption of milk during the time of the attacks.  I can't remember exactly, but milk has something to do with allergies and how it thickens when swallowed.  You'd have to ask your pediatrician on the details.  My son also has allergies.   Good Luck   This is a way of life for us.  As he has gotten older it gets better.  The climate also plays a factor.
