Well I think you have answered your own question. It certainly sounds like localized allergy. What you need to do is to stop using anything that causes an allergic reaction and to apply antihistamine cream or ointment to the affected parts. Ask your pharmacist for advice in choosing an over-the-counter preparation.

Obviously it is me who is confused. I should have directed my reply to donthave1984. I will repeat it for her. Thanks for pointing out my error.

Did you mean to reply to me? Or did you mistake me for the asker? I'm a little confused- I was just explaining my own experiences with rashes that occasionally reach the genital area.

YES and possibly.

I'm allergic to fragrance and here in Australia they have these lovely toilet papers with lovely scents.. I break out in a horrific rash that makes a diaper rash look mild. I'm also allergic to certain lubricants or spermicide in some condoms which causes painful itching, swelling and redness for a couple days. I have found that desitin, baby butt balm, etc for diaper rash really help alleviate these kind of reactions. It's a horrible texture to touch but it helps it heal so much faster!!

Now if you're talking about having a reaction to animals, pollen, or something that you ingest- if you get hives you can easily have them all over your body. I once had them on the bottom of my feet in reaction to accidentally drinking a tea with lavender. However, in my experience, if it's not from direct contact then the only way the allergic reaction can "travel" is if your entire body reacts to it (like hives). Aka if I accidentally touch lavender soaps usually only my hands will swell up and have a rash. No where else will be effected unless it touched it too or I break out in hives.

I should think it could affect any part of the body. Are you thinking systemic or local?
