by cristina1676, Dec 06, 2008 06:55PM
my 11 month old son was on amoxicillin for a double ear infection. apparently he is allergic to it because he broke out in a blotchy rash. the dr stopped the medication in time! (thank god). he also has a touch of roseola beucae he had a viral infection after the ear infectin cleared up. i was wondering how long this blotchy rash will last? the dr said to give him benadryl 4-6 hours or as needed. he doesnt have a fever and is eating fine. just wanted to know how long this rash will last

Hello,

Well the time taken for an allergic reaction to clear up cannot be predicted but your child’s doctor is right in saying that benadryl syrup should be given.Every individual’s reaction to drugs is different but in cases of children it is more profound.Hopefully, the rash should go away in 5-6 days.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
