blood test for allergies

Hi just had a blood test done last week for my allergies, they say I have allergic rhinitis. What will the blood test show if anything??? Thanks

The blood tests are done to see if you have IgG and IgE innunoglobulins in your blood in response to an allergen. They are also done to rule out infection. A high eosinophil count in the blood tests points towards some chronic conditions. However I do not know what blood tests were done. What I have enumerated are a few possibilities.

However a skin test would be more helpful in diagnosing the allergen like pollen, dander or dust that is causing the rhinitis. Allergic rhinitis is often diagnosed by medical history only. Skin tests only confirm it.

Thanks, My friend said it would show the 24 top allergens? I have sensitive skin that is why they didn't do that, and am also on zyrtec. So maybe another reason?

Just be aware that these tests may not show all of your sensitivities, even if they are things you know you will react to.  That's what happened to me.  It's what happens to a lot of people.  Even the allergist admitted that much to me.
