I have been taking psyllium husk with cinnamon for fiber, 1 tbsp., 3 times a day for nearly 4 years and since last fall I have developed a chronic cough and was wondering if I've developed an allergy to it.
Are you allergic to any specific substancesDrug abuse? Have you had allergic reactions in the past?
There could be several causes of this cough - including sinusitis, GERD, upper or lower respiratory tract infection, etc. These need to be investigated and ruled out.
You could try steam inhalation and warm saline gargles for a few days and see if it helps with your symptoms.
The chances of psyllium causing this cough are rare because you have already been taking it for a long time.
