claritin and clarinex, is there a difference?

Hi-

I suffer from mild to occasionally severe allergies, mostly due to dust mites and other airborne allergens. I have been prescribed clarinex, which works great, but is fairly expensive, especially compared to claritin.  I know that claritin is loratidine and clarinex is desloratidine, so I know they're comparable, but is there a big difference?  will claritin be less effective or similar?

thank you

I had a terrible sinus problem and tried everything on the market. Finnally, my Doctor prescribed clarinex and that did the job. I got mine through MediPlan out of Canada and it was about $30 for 60 tablets. It is legal to get your medicine out of Canada now, thanks to Congressman David Vitter.
