by munna16, Nov 02, 2009 05:09AM
sir, i would like to kindly know what the reason behind my mother who cough often repeatedly both in morning and night as it is dry cough with no sputum, whereupon we had the CT scan done for her lungs which showed subtle acinar consolidation in left lingular lobe  segment , what would be the cause for her constant coughing where she is not relived of medication what would be the ideal diagnosis for her case, can i suggest to undergo tuberculosis test such as montaux test to diagnose  it.we need to solve the problem because she is my mom.

Hi,
How is your mother? Are there other symptoms present?  How long has she been coughing? Coughing may be due to allergies, from certain medications, asthma, heartburn, and even infection such as tuberculosis. Have her evaluated further by your doctor for proper management and to rule out the differential mentioned. Her medical history and complete physical examination are important in determining the diagnosis.   Take care and best regards.
