by red_haired_fairy, Jun 28, 2007 10:35AM
does anyone know the side effects of the steroid injections that everyone is raving about for hayfever.
i aparently have perenial hayfever and it's a nightmare i'm now in my late twenties and desperate for a solution tried all the tablets and sparays etc available and my doctor told me that the only thing left is the steroid injection.
dont want to risk taking this if it has too many bad side effects
can you help?

i'm on tablet steroids for chronic hives.  the side effects are long term.  there are actually  no short term side effects and it's the only thing that gets me through the day.  I have talked to my doctor in lengths about the long term side effects..they are SCARY! if you can get by with a combo of tablets and sprays...don't even consider steroids.  they do work really great.  have you tried flonase? apparently that's a steroid based nasal spray and it works really good for me. i have severe allergy to dust and i just use half the recommended dose and it works.  flonase is one form of steroid with little side effects to worry about.
