help my asthma????

help my asthma????

Hi, i play basketball and i am a cycling fanatic but my asthma is holding me back.

Like today i went cycling and as soon as i hit the first hill i was out of breath and i had to push the rest of the way . My legs can cope fine i have never actually reached the stage of my legs feeling bad due to my chest giving in first.

Before i go out i take a preventer and when the asthma starts i use a Ventolin releiver but none of these work plus i hate using them.

I have heard people say that the more i use my lungs the less asthma will affect me but it doesnt seem to happen.

Another thing is that i lyk running but the furthest i can make it without getting out of breath is a little over 400m at a steady pace

best regards

Have you had a full PFT to be sure your only problem is exercise-induced asthma?  What preventer are you trying?  Have you tried Sodium Chromium (Intal)?  It has helped some elite athletes more than other preventers.  Foradil has also been used by some folks as a pre-treatment.
Try to work with your doc to find the right med/combo so you can exercise.
