hot rash on top of hands/reoccuring

My 12 year old daughter has been getting a rash on the top of her hands on and off over the past 2 years.  The rash comes on sudden with hot small red bumps.  It last for about 12 hours or so then the "hot" goes away and her skin is very dried out afterwards for a couple of weeks.
We have changed all hand soaps to no parabens, no petro chemicals (except while at school).  She does not have any other allergies that we are aware of.  It is happening more frequently and more intense now.  (about every 5 weeks)
The PA at her dermatoligest office thought it was Lichen Nitidus but it just does not look anything like that.  I did not think that Lichen Netidus gots hot and red first.  I thought it just formed the bumps then stuck around.  Hers comes and goes.

What about rubber gloves used for dishwashing?  You didn't mention anything about that, so I don't know.  But, since kids should be doing chores and washing the dishes is one of those chores, you might want to go glove free.  It sounds like you already know about using natural dishsoaps.

I'm allergic to everything under the sun, so I know that going glove free for washing dishes with the right dish liquid works best.  Besides, it's not like I'm exposed to anything that I wouldn't otherwise be exposed to with or without the gloves.

Hands sweat big time in those gloves, too.

I had a much more severe reaction than the rash you're talking about with your daughter, but with that I can certainly feel for you.

The allergic reaction I had to wearing rubber gloves turned out to be due to the rubber, or latex, itself.  The reaction I had was a rash that had gotten so bad that the outer layers of skin on the backs of both of my hands literally disintegrated and left me with very raw and open flesh for several weeks.  It was a nightmare.

I was very young back then.  A friend of mine who suffers a very bad memory due to epilepsy and the drugs she used to use before changing to one of the newer and better ones, actually remembers what my hands looked like all those years ago, because my allergic reaction was so bad.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Thanks for the post!

Hot red rash on the top of the hand is usually due to heat rash, dermatitis due to sunlight or a sweat rash. In your daughter’s case, it looks more like a sun burn. We have a discussion on MedHelp, which may help you: http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/497233

I think you should discuss this with your skin specialist. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
