hot spots on calves

I am amazed that so many people have this same problem. Can't be a sex thing, since so many of both have it. I just started having these hot spots on my right calf, about the size of my hand for a few weeks now. Didn't think much about it, until I started having a lot of them last night, after walking for an hour. I am 56 years old, post-menopausal, very active, about 25 lbs overweight, but good health. Low cholesterol, eat healthy (mostly). I am on thyroid meds & Lipitor, but low doses of both. I take vitamins, don't smoke, don't drink much at all. I used to have a cold sensation on my left kneecap, but that seems to have gone away. My Dr. didn't have an answer for that, and said I don't have the deep vein thing. I am not sedentary, an up & down stairs several times daily. I am seeing my Dr. today, just to rule out a circulation thing.  No rash, swelling or redness, but is hot to the touch for a few seconds at a time, and sometimes moves, but only on calf area. Hope someone figures out what we all have!!!
