immunity to ragweed

will i build an immunity to ragweed allergy after this bout with it?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

It's unlikely that you will develop immunity with exposure to the allergen. On exposure to the allergen, an Immunologic (IgE) or a non-immunologic reaction is set in process, which ultimately releases histamine, which acts at the peripheral receptors, resulting in allergic reactions. On repeated exposure the reaction is occurs again.

But desensitization can help. Desensitization or allergy immunotherapy works like vaccination. Very small amounts of the allergen are injected in gradually increasing doses, so that the body develops an immunity to the allergen, so that the person will have a reduced response or fewer allergic symptoms when he is exposed to these allergens again. An allergy specialist may be able to help.
