itching after septoplasty

by mynose77, Apr 03, 2009 06:40PM
I had a septoplasty 7 days ago. My nose started itching yesterday and I thought once my bandages were removed it would get better. I was wrong, now it is even worse and none of the allergy medicines are helping. Is this just a part of healing process or could it be something else?

Hello,

Itching and tenderness are very common after septoplasty, but it usually heals within the healing period. If it is still persisting, then possibility of chronic urticaria has to be explored.Pls consult an allergist and get it evaluated.Usually it responds to antihistaminics and steroids ,but sometimes phototherapy may be needed. Also it can be due to autoantibodies.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
