I would say they messed up. I would get a good lawyer! She could have died. Sounds like she almost did. Get a copy of her file now. Keep notes of when, what time, nurses name of who administered and who ordered it for her. Go straight to the hospitals head administrator and keep notes of your conversation.
My mom was given Keflex, 750 mg twice a day, for a skin disorder. Two-three hours after taking the dose prescribed, she had a sudden onset of severe diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, and weakness. She was taken to the emergency room where she was given a myriad of tests but continued with extreme diarrhea and nausea for several hours. She was given something for the nausea and admitted to the hospital so she could be given IVs to prevent dehydration. She now has a rash, probably yeast, in various areas all over her body.
Does this sound like an allergic reaction or a case of an extreme dose?
