It is probably more than one of them.

Magnesium has been proven helpful in controling asthma attacks and is use via IV by hospitals to treat severe flares.

Vitamin D has had some very interesting research into its effects on the entire body.  Not only is vitamin D essential for calcium absorbtion, but helps regulate many hormones and is essential to immune system health as well.

Omega 3's are also anti-iflammatory agents.

Probably the combination of all three has been helping to control your allergies and asthma.

I hope your sinus surgery goes well and that you get back on supplements and find relief quickly.  Question though - Why are you required to go off of those supplements before surgery?  I am not familiar with any side effects from them that would effect surgery.

I'm not sure which supplement was me but I am off all my mine for the past week in preparation for my deviated septum surgery on thursday and man, my allergy and asthma attacks are horrible!!

I've been taking calcium, magnesium mix, separate vitamin D and high dose omega 3s.  So one of those has been helping more than I knew.

Hi,

Magnesium is excellent for asthma.  It is given to asthmatics in severe respiratory distress in hospitals on a regular basis through IV.  It has a mild broncho dilater effect.   I take a small supplement.

Calcium is really good for anyone to take.  If you have a history of taking oral steroids, it is even more important that you take it.

As far the supplement containint lead, it shouldn't, but that would depend on the quality controls where you live.

I hope that helps you.
