Hello,

First of all, the diagnosis of sinusitis or sinus infection has to be confirmed in your case. This can be done through transillumination (passing light through the sinuses) or Sinus X-rays or CAT scan of sinuses.

Treatment of sinusitis involves Oral antibiotics (usually 10 to 14 days). They are to be taken on prescription. You can use an over-the-counter (OTC) decongestant combined with an anti-inflammatory analgesic (pain reliever) like Ibuprofen. However, you should not use decongestants for more than 5-7 days at a time. Symptoms can also be relieved by using a saline nasal spray or a nasal spray that contains corticosteroids.

Inhale plenty of steam to loosen the mucus, eat wholesome simple foods, obtain needed out-of-door exercise, sunbaths, and swimming and if your sinusitis is precipitated by allergies, then pls try to find the allergen and avoid it as much as you can.

Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries

You could see your physician and he or she will probably prescribe antibiotics for you. What I would also strongly recommend is either purchasing J's Nose Drops (you can buy them online) or a product that Walgreens sells... it is called NeilMed Sinus Rinse. It is very easy to use and sometimes can get rid of sinus infections alone without antibiotics.

But do call your physician, especially if you've had this sinus infection for awhile.
