Back in February I was dianosed with VOGT "koyanagi harda syndrome" in my eyes, this caused me blurred vision in my right eye where I couldn't see nothing but a huge blur spot, I was put on 60mg of prednisone, and I noticed my face looking fuller, my girlfriend recently told me my face looked swollen, that's how I knew it really starting to be noticeable. I hate it but it's something I have to go thru in order to keep my vision. Thankfully my vision is way better, what helps me with not becomeing depressed is regularly excercising and eating as healthy as possible, I am now down to 40mgs and hope to be down to 30 by end of the month... I wish all of you the best !!! Hope all our health issues get resolved soon! God bless....
I was diagnosed with hemolytic anemia several years back. Doctor kept insisiting I take the preds. I resisted until I had a flare up and my liver was all out of wack. So 3 weeks in, I have the moon face...I have actually lost weight instead of gained, probably only because I work out and strickly watch my calorie intake. I advised my doctor this morning that I could no longer tolerate the pred due to the adverse side affects it has...well, let's see what his response is. I feel worse on it than I did before...boo.
I know you posted this a longgg time ago and I'm sure your "moon face " well I'm 17 and I was diagnosed with upset article colitis last year and they put me on 15ml of prednisone last october. In February I was blown up like a ballon! My face was so big and I used to be such a tiny girl. Prednisone made me gain 30lb. In may I stopped prednisone and by June, my face had completely gone down! Sadly in augut I started again): cuz I had a flare up and I was on 15ml again! Back in September I went off an my fce changes a little but it's still quite large. I miss my skinny face, it's kinda deppressing sometimes. Everyone says I look prettier with a square jaw but Im not used to it, I don't like the change.
Hi,
Yes moon face is common to happen with such huge dose of prednisolone and it does come down with reducing dose. Usually with in 2 weeks of stopping the drug there is a slight change, while with in 2 months time noticeable change can be seen. Also, these changes are individual to every patient. Flare ups are common with abrupt discontinuance, but not with proper weaning of prednisolone. Hope this helps. Best.
