My 20 years son who is is good health, other than some mild seasonalSeasonal affective disorder allergies has mucus in and on his bowel movements. What could be causing this?
For many years I had muscus in my stool and sometimes I would just pass muscus. I was told I had IBS. Just 4 weeks ago, I was told I have ulcerative colitisColitis Irritable bowel syndrome Ischemic colitis Necrotizing enterocolitis Salmonella enterocolitis Ulcerative colitis which is an autoimmune disease. There's many other digestive diseases. In my case and in many, muscus could be a sign of inflammation in the colon or rectum. Get a rush on it and I would suggest seeing a doctor and insisting on a colonoscopy. A narrow tube with a camera and light at the end that the doc inserts so he can see the entire colon. Your son won't feel a thing. These days the patient is put out, not by general. Most of the time it's done in the doctors office. Just takes about 1/2 hr. Then take it from there. If indeed he has inflammation, then he has to go on meds to reduce or get rid of it. You don't want it spreading. I'm not saying he has autoimmune disease, but I am saying to look into it as soon as possible. Just play it safeSafe driving for teens Safe sex .
