My grandson has the same issues. Doesn't matter where he lives. What can I give him to help him sleep and stop coughing at nite? He also coughs at nite and throws up.

POPCYCLES that is the best medicine that i have found for my sore throats. I have bad coughs to the point it bleeds. so i take banana popcycles and put them as far back in my throat and hold it there till it freezes my throat. I do that until it is totally frozen and the pain goes away. it seems to calm it down.

In '77 I found I had. a lot of allergies: birds, cats, dogs, rabbits, cows, horses, dust, mold, grasses & was told to stay out of the night air. I have asthema due to smoking parents. For last 25 yrs I've had bronchitis every January but the cough would last 3 months. I got bronchitis January this yr & again twice in March. I still have a cough. It starts as a tickle in my throat but after the sun goes down it gets worse. When I go to bed the coughing gets so bad that I throw up. I've gone to my doctor 3 times & he's given me 2 z-packs & another penicillan type. I've been told the night air doesn't affect allergies.

Hi,

I think the first thing to do here is to find out if there is something at the place he sleeps which is irritating him. Sometimes there are unclear allergies such as to bed linen or the air ducts or air type which can be detected by changing the place he sleeps at night. Also, you may want to ask him if he feels there is a post-nasal drip, i.e. there is a dropping sensation at the back of his throat.

Let us know if you might have any other queries.

Regards

he isnt allergic to anything and the only symptom he has is the cough..he isnt on any medications and is generally very healthy..cough supprerssants help in that i think they knock him out..but he still wakes up with bouts of the coughing, sometimes until he throws up...during the day he's fine..no coughing at all....no stuffy nose, nothing(even at night no stuffy nose no cold symptoms)

Hi,

In many cases, sinusitis and asthma both are precipitated at night with more night time symptoms than in the day.

Is he allergic to any specific substances? What symptoms does he have?

Is he on any medications? Have you consulted an allergy specialist for his symptoms?

Do antiallergic medications, cough relief medications etc help?

It would be best to consult an allergy specialist for his symptoms. Let us know what his doctor advises.

Hope this helps.

Regards.
