pain at injection site of allergy shot after 2 weeks

by jewelll, Oct 04, 2006 12:00AM
I have been getting allergy shots in both arms for 1 year with great results in relieving allergies. Localized redness, heat and swelling at injection site lasts a few days and has been pretty dramatic. Sometimes swelling under skin (you can feel it but not see it ) is baseball size. Since I am doing well my MD has me on a maintainance dose with no more increases due to these reactions. Two weeks ago the shot stung worse than usual afterwards for a little while. I had the usual ache and swelling for a few days. Now, about 11 days later, my deltoid area hurts when I rub it(more than when I press on it) and I get sharp pains that come and go. No redness, heat, swelling or problems using arm or hand. What could this pain be? I'm afraid to get more shots. The nurses who give the shots don't seem to have any answers.  Thanks
