pre and after biirth rash

i developed a rash about a month before i gave birth i had my baby 4 days ago and the rash is over my entire body its driving me mad i am using pinetarsal ,beta cream and taking a antihistamine but nothing helps .do you have any suggestions

I had a rash when I was expecting.  It was really uncomfortable.  You have my sympathies.

Have you discussed it with your doctor at all?  Are you nursing?  That would affect what can be done.  

I would also suggest that you post your question on one of the pregnancy forums and on the parenting forums.

Such a rash can be due to pruritic urticarial plaques of pregnancy or papular dermatitis of pregnancy. Papular dermatitis is caused by blood hormone levels are linked with this disorder especially chronically raised levels of gonadotrophins (hormones produced by the pituitary gland of the brain, and which regulate sex hormone levels) and lowered cortisol and oestrogen levels.

You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used, whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
