sinus infection?

by johndoeeee, Jul 23, 2009 11:41AM
So I worked at my grandmas house over a month ago and ripped up her kitchen. Whale i was doing this i was subject to a lot of dust and all kinds of ****. About a week later i had a bit of a sore throat and noticed i had tonsil stones. Then soon after that i developed a cough and some nasal congestion. I went to my doctor and took a look at the back of my throat and said i had a sinus infection. Its been a little more than a month and they both have still not gone away and since i am a hypochondriac i have been having a lot of anxiety over it. A couple of my friends have told me theyve had similar problems. The cough makes me wheez a bit until i cough up some phlegm which is normally yellow or white. Also whale i had this cough i stupidly continued to smoke weed, hookah and drink alcohol could this have made it worse? The antiobiotics he has given me to not seem to be working at all. So could this really be a persistant sinus infection or does it sound like something worse such as asthma or pneumonia?

It certainly sounds like a sinus infection...I would say that the antibiotics might not have been able to work properly, since you were also using alcohol and other drugs.  I would suggest going back to your doctor, explaining how you continued these drugs while on the antibiotic, and then see if another round of antibiotics helps at all if you don't add other drugs into the mix (if, of course, the doctor still believes it is a simple infection).

No matter what it is, another trip to the doctor sounds like a must, with your symptoms.
