sublingual immunotherapy

hello all - does anyone have experience with this? - is it as safe as shots? - does it work? - if i understand it correctly it is the same FDA approved allergens used in an "off label" application - so it is the same ingredients but enters through the mouths and goes into the gastro entestine instead of the skin - what has your experience been ? is it reommended? where can you go to get it?

thanks!

In the US, as was mentioned, it has not yet been approved by the FDA but has had some reported success in Europe.  None of the docs I've conferred with are offering it as an option, so I keep getting allergy shots for my allergies.

My understanding is that it is very important to get good therapy drops (of course).  Insurers probably won't cover it in the US because it hasn't been FDA approved.

I did both, I did not find either one effective for me. I decided to try a new round of shots. Ent doctors believe in the under the tongue drops, however asthma, allergist believe in only shots, so it just depends on the doctor.not enough research yet. thats what my allergist said.good luck

From what I understand, sublingual immunotherapy has been used for many years in Europe and it is safer than the allergy shots. I know my Allergist/Immunologist was working to get sublingual therapy drops to the U.S.

I can only tell you that I've used homeopathy before and it has worked. If it were my decision, I would most definitely choose the sublingual drops over allergy injections.
