Can allergies cause constant under eye swelling?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Under eye swelling can usually occur due to local causes like conjunctivitis. It can also be due to systemic causes like kidney failure or cardiac failure. The changes under the eyes can also be allergy related referred to as allergic shiners. This is due to nasal congestion. When the nasal passages are congested, there is an increased amount of pressure in the nose. So, the blood vessels are blocked and blood pools in the veins and capillaries underneath the eyes, causing a dark appearance, like a black eye. Some of the fluid from inside the veins can seep into the tissue under the eyes causing the swelling.
