Scoliosis is a side-to-side curvature of the spine.
thank you so much, ive had 2 lower back surgeries and wondered how this may affect me. im 48 so im not going to grow anymore.
A dextroscoliosis means that the convexity (the 'bump') heads towards the right side--away from the heart.
What it means in terms of your health care should be discussed with your own doctors. If you have already attained your adult height, the alternatives may be different than if you're still growing. Sometimes scoliosis does not need to be treated; sometimes you may be given options (bracing, surgery, exercises).
If you have any other symptoms, such as pain, complaints of your body feeling 'uneven' or any worsening of the condition, your doctor will discuss the options for treatment with you.
follow up with whoever sent you for this test and write down your questions before you go in.
