Hello,
I have cirrhosis and its a constant struggle to keeping my ammonia level down. Does anyone have any ideas that may help? Also has anyone heard of a tester that will messure my amonia level when ever i want to check it.

FYI - If you have herpes of any kind, you cannot take L Arginine because it will cause a break out.

I have herpes simplex and took it once and I got a "cold sore" on my lip.

Hi Randy, in addition to lactulose and an antibiotic a supplement called L'Arginine can help remove ammonia from the body.
I am taking as a preventative

Hi Randy,

I don't know if you have cirrhosis from HCV but even if that is not the root cause - you may want to check out the hepatitus C Community anyhow because there are some people there who will be able to offer info as some are dealing or have dealt with what you mentioned concerning ammonia levels.
