Folks, I managed health food stores for 18 years, and I've heard all the stories and read a lot of monographs on alternative "cures." The problem is the documentation is lacking. Hunzas get sick just like everyone else and we have no idea how long they live as those who were studied didn't have birth certificates -- they live in a very isolated community. I'm sure they're much less isolated today, and no question without modern food processing they eat a healthier diet, but there is no real evidence they live any longer than we do. On the other hand, most "primitive" cultures do live healthier lives than we do providing they live past childhood, don't die in childbirth, or in violence. If they make it past 20 they will likely live long lives, just as we do, but not any longer. What's wrong with us isn't the length of our lives but the amount of sickness and injury we live with. Just don't go getting carried away with these "miracle" cures -- most of them are hype when they are studied, just as chemo is hype as well (if you live five years, but are sick as a dog because your immune system has been wiped out, and if you die of pneumonia on the fifth year plus a day, you are counted as a cancer cure). What is obvious is if you eat better you should feel better, and certainly juicing can help clean out a system of many toxins; it's a good alternative for those who don't want to go through the torture of chemo and radiation and repeated surgeries. But the results of such treatments, again and unfortunately, do not have the kind of accurate and rigorous documentation that can tell us if they work or not for the many, not just the occasional case, but also again I'd argue we don't have good data on chemo, either.
Someone I was talking to on another forum was given a short time to live with advanced last stage cancer. He decided to move to Hunza where no one suffers any diseases including cancer. When this guy returned, maybe 6 months or maybe a year later (can't recall exactly) they found his cancer had vanished. The Hunzakuts live organically. A good article on the Hunzakuts is called "Death Rides a Slow Bus in Hunza"
I like the ray of hope part. I am not going to the Vitamin C however. Because Cancer loves Vitamin C it make it grow better and faster. I am eating well and exercising in general.
I think Cancer like MS reacts differently in every individual. I have genetic defect BRCA 1 which makes cancer cells grow. But BRCA 1 people do better with chemo than the public at large.
I have had MS for 48 years and you can't tell. I have stage 4 Cancer and you would look at me and think I am the picture of health. I do not even look my age.
Someone today at a NMSS said they knew someone who died of Cancer who had MS. Their Neurologist said if you get Cancer with MS you are a goner because of the breech of the Blood, Brain, Barrier. The people at my table who know me spoke up and said "You can't make blanket statements like that look at Alex".
I am going to be cured because of the new targeted therapies such as AMG 386 which are better than blanket chemo. When Amgen 386 hits the market it is going to change Cancer treatment as we know it.
I have hope they will advance in MS and Cancer in my lifetime. Genetics is the key.
