Today, I will start a medication for the first time. (syntroid) Should I be worry/
at 60 I have been very healthy all my life and I have tried to stay awy from anything that not natural.

I am 60 and have taken Synthroid for several years.  There are other problems caused by a slow thyroid, so I feel it's best that I take it.  I do have some concern like Paxiled said, so I work closely with my Endo on this.  They've had no reason to raise my dosage thus far, so here's hoping!  Good luck to you and take care.

The advice you received is great, but a question to be asked is, how bad is your thyroid?  If it's still functioning, synthroid will kill it, so it should be used only if your thyroid is already dead.  It also depends on why it is malfunctioning -- autoimmune disease, etc.  Many people with thyroid problems just lack iodine.  But as for synthroid itself, if you do need it, the main thing is to make sure your endocrinologist stays on top of making sure the dose is correct.  It will have to be adjusted over time, and it will be your job to make sure your docs do their jobs.
