Could this be Alzheimer's

by codebreaker, Sep 20, 2009 01:57PM
I am 26 yrs old and have memory loss. I tend to forget things very often. Have terrible mood swings. Feel irritated very fast. I have severe pain in the end of the right index finger.
I don't get proper sleep.
Is this Alzheimer's?

I dont know the odds but I would venture that ist doubtful you have Alzheimers, are you on any meds as some do have side effects and one of them is short term memory loss, also mood swings. If you dont take meds do you take any herbs or supplements, sometimes anxiety can make you forget things. Do you rush around, driven... doing many activities and jobs, as that can  make you not concentrate on any one thing. You do sound stressed so some relaxation may be in order, do you have fun, thats a very important part of life ..

I have lived with a poor memory since I was 20. Every place that I worked at I have been involved in incidents where people get angry with me because of memory loss, however I always managed to stay employed as an accountant and am now 55 and retired, afraid to go back to work because of recent memory loss. The problem of increasing memory loss did not occur to me until recently so you may never have any increased memory loss, if you even have any now.
The finger pain is probably a pinched nerve which will not repair. Pinched nerves have no relationship to memory issues, they just occur.
Many people have mood swings, so for you that may just be a matter of needing some therapy to deal with. A study of people with physical aggression issues determined that those people do not have trouble maintaining composure when they are in the presence of someone they feel physically afraid of.

You should talk to your doc or a professional for clarification about all your concerns, as people on this board can only provide background info.
