Is it Alzheimer's?

I'm a 51 year old man.My MRI Scan of Brain diagnosis read :

MR reveals few punctuate T2 and FLAIR hyper-intensities in bilateral centrum semiovale. These are isointense on T1 and do not show restricted diffusion on DWI, suggestive of Chronic ischemic Microangiopathc changes.
No evidence of acute infaract, hemorrhage, mass lesion, arteriovenous malformations, Chiari malformation/basal invagination or demyelination is seen.

The doctor says I have high risk of Alzheimer's in a few years.
How high is this risk? How accurate is this diagnosis?

I agree with you, you need to open up a line of communication with you doctor Ploo7, be honest and he will be honest with you- and do not stress- it will not help the situation

hi . Plooz so sorry your having these problems.  first why did you have the mri, does this run in your family?   there are more test out there that can help you see if you have a chance of having it .  they can check the two genes that most have and now they have a spine test that they say is very good .

if the Dr is telling you this than has the dr offered the meds to slow it down. or told you what you need to do to slow it down ?

Dr's are great dont get me wrong but it will take more than one test to say your going have that. most the time they cant tell you and its a guessing game . hang in there try not stress self . go see another dr get a second and see what they say. stay in touch.
