Im not sure where exactly to post this, so I'll start here. I am in my 2nd pregnancy(both pretty close together) and during both my bowels tend to be loose. During this pregnancy I have developed multiple bumps in the edge of my anal crack and a few milder ones around the rectum. They are itchy and bleed sometimes. I was just wondering if this is a bacteria thing from the effects of loose bowels or if it sounds like something more serious. I have a dr appt end of this week with the OB and will ask but figured I would get some opinions to maybe have me prepared for what she will say or so i can start doing more than obssesively cleaning to get it to go away

Geez..forgot to mention..I am an anal cancer survivor.  What you describe doesn't sound like symptoms of  that cancer.

I highly recommend the vaccine for this cancer after your pregnancy.

My oncologist and his team were adamant about its value.

Couldn't put it better thatn mellie.  I learned about the deal about being constipated and seeming to have diarrhea when in cancer treatment....

Hemorrhoids are the most likely culprit...very common in pregnant woman..if not in first pregnancy...may show in following ones...(I had four so know a bit about this stuff).

Use a gentle unscented wipe...and ask your OB what to do. I am thinking a fibre supplement maybe...but let your doc help you with getting your stools back to normal.

It sounds like it could be hemorrhoids.  Hemorrhoids usually tend to be caused by constipation but they can also occur when you're going more often than usual.  (It's also possible you could have some constipation/impaction and not know it.  My daughter did and we never thought she could be impacted as she was having loose bowel movements.  Turns out it was leaking around the impacted stool.)  Also, just the pressure of pregnancy can cause hemorrhoids ... sometimes internal and sometimes external.)  Your OB will know what's going on, and if it's hemorrhoids, they'll tell you what to get/do to ease your symptoms.  In the meantime, go easy on the obsessively cleaning it to get it to go away.  You're probably just aggravating it.
