STILL WORRIED AFTER EXAM

Hi, i suffer with health anxiety so find it hard to stop worrying over things. A few weeks back i started to worry about anal cancer, only because i have an enlarged papilla for 8 years and just started to worry over it so i was checking,

I checked a little further inside this time and felt what i thought was a lump, my first reaction was that it was just a vein because i could smooth it out or squidge it flat, anyway, i kept poking around at it and i got a bit of blood and the thing went flat, all you can feel now is the skin is a bit wrinkly where the thing was, so i am thinking i broke a little vein or something.

I was still worried so my doc did a finger exam and said nothing there to worry about, but he sent me for hospital exam to put my mind at rest.  I went for the exan yesterday and the surgeon only did a finger exam too and said fine.  So i asked if he could look up there, so he used the anoscope if that's the correct term.  He first used a small one to look lower down, then a longer one to look further in,  he said he can't see anything to worry about, just some little piles but nothing for him to be concerned about.  I was hoping he would see where i had damaged but he obviously didn't, do i need to keep worrying???

the rough patch is on one of the mucosal folds you spoke about, if i put a little water in there to expand the rectum, the rough patch is up by the annoretical ring, but as the water comes out it moves near the anus and is on the folds

Hello, is there any discharge from the skin? is it painful? If there is discharge and pain it could be due to an infection. The rough area that you feel could be an external pile. If inflamed this can cause pain. It could also be an anal tag. These occur due to healed fissures in ano. You can specifically ask your doctor about the rough skin you feel. He will elaborate further. Regards.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

You should stop worrying as the anoscopy examination was normal. What you felt could have been a mucosal fold and the probing could have caused injury and bleeding. It would have healed, so your doctor could not see any visible cuts/wound. So, stop worrying and don’t stress yourself.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
