Heleono, I have not been diagnoised with anal cancer, I had a very bad anal fissure and had to have surgery for it this summer. My surgery took a few months to recover from and bowel movements were very painful in the begining. I made sure I drank plenty of water and ate alot of fiber and used miralax to keep B.M.s soft. I also used wet wipes with aloe vera to wipe. However radiation to that area might change protocal. There is a wonderful stage 3 anal cancer survivor that comes to this board once in awhile, Her nic/name is 29sillygirl, She went through all the trements and I'm sure she can give you good advice. Another websight that has an anal cancer survivor/warrior board is at the cancer survivors network. When you go onto thier websight check their boards for the anal cancer board. They have about 15 active posters on there that are going thru and have finished treatment. Good Luck.
How long have you been out of treatments? It took about 7 months for me .But i had 2 biopsy after my treatments. It may not take as long for you .I,m 14 month out of treatments The only time i have pain is if i have too many BM'S.. GOOD LUCK
Don't believe the original poster is looking at this thread anymore.
Our treatments sound similar. I have just had an anal exam by oncologist as well as one by gynecologist who did minor surgery a year or so after radiation to relieve labial fusion/scarring. Good reports from both. We are fortunate to have a doctor who finally found the cancer. I was pronounced fine after colonoscopy...self referred to well known surgeon who diagnosed in office. So it goes.
It took ages for me to feel anywhere near ok. I remember constant diarrhea, painful aggressive exams and biopsies..etc..all par for the course.
I'm five years from treatment. It is odd to hear I am fine...while at the same time having lots of regularity issues...all explained by fibrous tissues..at least nothing is worse.
We are fortunate. There are rarely posts I can help with here....but when I can..am happy to share or support in whatever way I can.
