Carotid Doppler Scan Bilateral

I recently had this study done but my appointment isn't until April 28,2014. Earliest appointment I could get.  The report says:

Mild smoothly marginated carotid plaque in the bulb and proximal internal carotid artery.
The peak right internal carotid systolic velocity 123cm/sec. The peak left internal carotid systolic velocity 111 cm/sec. The right ICA/CCA velocity ratio is 1.43. The left ICA/CCA velocity ratios 1.06.
Mild carotid plaque.

What does this mean in patient language?

Thank you for your response. I thought that was what it was but wanted to be sure.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi!
I do appreciate your worries. It means that there is a small patch of clot/thrombosis or plaque—whatever you may call it, in the carotid artery which is not yet compromising the blood flow. This is usually managed by medications and a wait and watch policy is usually adopted it does not cause any harm. However, medications are given to halt the progress.
Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!

The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
