Cerebrovascular Anomaly

Could the finding of a Cerebrovascular anomaly in the left posterior cerebral artery of suspected congenital origin cause me problems later in life?  I have had several CT scans before and none mentioned this until now and it is supposed to be from infancy.  I don't understand.  If it was missed all this time (I am 50), could it be part of the reason I am having severe dizzy spells (I have had them on and off throughout my life), nausea, shortness of breath and severe short term memory loss?  Could it put me at higher risk of aneurysm or stroke or is this something that is just there and will never cause a problem?

It sounds like you might be referring to an artereo venous malformation. You can got to the AVM Forum where there are many with this problem. Most people with an AVM are born with them and they usually manifest themselves by the age of 40 or so. Mine was due to head trauma and I have undergone two surgeries to embolize it since it was discovered over three years ago.

I was having a loud whoosing noise inside my head that my wife could hear at night, and I was having frequent and severe headaches. I had seen several doctors about the noise (bruit) and the headaches, and until I cornered a neurologist and had her listen to it, I was told I was just getting older and was given pain medication.

Google up AVM Forum and read the cases listed there.
