As for whether you should avoid hot tubs, I think you should ask your doctor about that.  But personally, I would think that being in a hot tub would lower your blood pressure, because the warmth will cause peripheral vasodilation.  Under normal circumstances, vasodilation lowers blood pressure, and vasoconstriction elevates it.  Also, you tend to relax in a hot tub, and the relaxation would tend to lower blood pressure.  But ask the doctor, because maybe there is some effect of hot tubs that I am not aware of.

Assuming your doctor is okay with your using a hot tub, there is one way to find out for sure what effect it has on your blood pressure.  Take your blood pressure right before you get in the hot tub, get in, and stay in a while.  Then get out and take your blood pressure immediately -- before you have a chance to cool off.  Do that on about three occasions, and if the results are consistent, I think you have your answer.

Hello'
I don't have the answer to your question, but it is a very good one for me too! I have bleeds off and on in the small veins in my brain and MS.
I saw your post and wanted to thank you for asking this question.
I have been careful to keep out of hot water, but it was more because of MS .
I remember going to the spa and loving the hot steam room, I just couldn't ever stay in there too long.
Someone will be along soon to answer your question.
I will watch your post and find out too! :: )
Hugs, NiCee
