MRI and AAA

In 1997 I had a "AAA" (split down the middle, not thru groin) & it has taken well.
I recently has a 'slurring' of my voice but a recent CAT scan showed it left brain may have a problem.
I passed all the stoke symptoms test twice.
My Neurologist thought I should have an MRI but since I had a metal clip in my 'AAA' repair and he  is trying to find out what kind of "metal' was used.
He also had a chest & abdominal x-ray done
I was hesitate to do an MRI but could you advise some other method to be used??.
