Pulse in abdomen

by holly808557, Oct 20, 2009 01:48PM
I recently have noticed a strong pulsing in my abdomen area, from just below my left rib all the way to my belly button.  I had a tramatic event 4 months ago and have lost 25 lbs and have been living with high stress and depression.  I do have low blood pressure (100/60 is high for me), I have a family history of brain aneurysms and strokes, heart attacks, etc.  I had my husband feel the throbbing and he was shocked at how hard it was and he wanted to take me to the hospital.  I have a slight heart murmur and MVP that are none symptomatic.  While researching aneurysms I came across Marfans syndrome,  I'm tall with long arms, fingers and long face.  Should I mention this to my doctor ?   Exercise or just walking across the yard increases the throbbing.  Can an aneurysm develop this quickly?  How serious should I treat my symptoms?  Any input would a great help.  Thanks H

Hi - I'm sorry to hear what's going on with you. If you believe something is happening that is detrimental to your health, it is good for you to make an appt with your primary care doctor and see if you can be referred for further testing or to a specialist.

There are others on this forum who have experience with aortic aneurysms who will hopefully come along and help you out.

I don't know the answer to your question - (can aneurysms develope this quickly). I'll be interested in hearing what others have to say about this as well.

All the best to you.

Thanks so much for your input.  I have an appt. on Thurs. with my primary Dr.  What worried me was that most people have no symptoms before finding out or having a rupture and I'm having symptoms.  Thanks again.  H

I totally see where you are coming from. You are definitley taking the right steps to take care of yourself. Fantastic, you are seeing you doctor on Thursday. I am hoping for a good outcome for you.  I don't know that stress can "cause" an anuerysm. It is one factor that is critical to keeping under control. I have 3 annies and a pituitary tumor. When I am stressed any and all symptoms increase. Any forum I've gone to about annies - it is always suggested that people take steps to reduce their stress.

Take care and let us know how things turn out for you.
