Restictions

by heat6900, Oct 07, 2009 09:47AM
I have a type b aortic dissection, with the amount of meds i take each day total of 9 pills to control BP i am tired and worn out alot. My job is very stressful as a night supervisor in a demanding process facility. my bp has been spiking at work when under pressure from peers subordinates and managers(It normally runs 120/70). upward of 178/108 this lasts up to 2 hrs at a time until i can calm myself down. my Dr is reluctant to write me time off from work, she states that i shoulld have no restrictions and anxiety and stress is causing the bp raise (unassociated with work) although i find when monitoring my bp, normal everyday issues raise my bp 10 points not dramatic 130-140/80

My job has agreed to look at a less stressful day position for me (adminastrative paperwok) if the Dr will fill out FMLA paperwork stating i should no longer do my currant job that i should be placed in a less demanding position. my Dr. is very reluctant to do this. I am not asking for a and out here i conceded that i need a career chnage not disability? is this unreasonable should i have certain restrictions or should i shut up and live like i dont have a dissection, or should i seek another opinion? i know other positions will be stressful, but i feel if i could go to work and do my job with less confrontation and decision making it would be much easier on me (i also live in a very remote area which jobs are scarce in, so its not as easy as finding another that suits me)
