My mother needs surgery next month because of a brain aneurysm. Her recovery time is 6 weeks and we just found out she has no disability insurance through work. Is there any financial aid she could qualify for?
Depending on her income she may be able qualify for medicaid. It's to early to consider Social Security Disability because she is not disabled and nobody can predict the outcome. You could also meet with Social Security to discuss SSI. This would impact her retirement funds when she does retire, however. You all will need to start planning now to make sure Power of Attorney and Medical Power of Attorney documents are in place should it be needed.
