what does L Carotid system w/moderate atherosclerosis present, stenosis less than 50% mean?

Hi!
The carotid arteries and their branches are present in the neck (on left and right side). In your case the left carotid artery or its branch has deposits of plaques or clots called atherosclerosis. However, the deposits which cause narrowing of the lumen of the artery (stenosis), is less than 50% or less than 50% of the lumen is narrowed. This is managed through medication and surgical procedures such as stenting (common) and endarterectomy (less common). You would need to adopt healthy lifestyle changes. Take care!
