Hi,
It's me again. I have a dilemma. I know that at some point I will need the surgery for the two aneurysms I have, but my doctors want to wait.
I understand they want to wait until the risk from the aneurysm is greater than the risk from the surgery - I get that.
My dilemma is that my spouse will be retiring in 4 years. My ascending aortic aneurysm is 4.7cm (Mid ascending aorta 46.80 MM (major)), and the aneurysm on my pulmonary artery is 4.2cm and listed 'moderate to severe'.
Once my spouse retires, and we are down to my income and his fixed income + whatever we can generate in a home business I will not likely be able to afford the downtime for the surgery and recovery.
Has anyone else been in this situation and if so, how did you deal with your doctor - were they amenable to performing the surgery sooner due to your upcoming financial hard times, eg while you could still more easily afford it? Please help, because if I have to wait until his retirement I don't know what I'm going to do after that point, other than have to declare bankruptcy or something...
Please any advice, replies etc would be greatly appreciated.
