surviving and a recoiling restenting a brain aneurysm

by PurpleLight, Sep 30, 2009 03:30PM
Hello! My Mum had a brain aneurysm that ruptured 5 days before xmas 2008 (9 months ago). It was a fusiform aneurysm (wide based on both sides of artery) and fairly large. She had a stent put in place and coiling done. She survived without any problems at all. It was amazing that she did so well.

She had a follow up scan in July which has shown that there is a slight bulging just above the stent. The want her to have a MRA scan in a months time, just to see more closely what it is! I am now really worried. They said that they may have to put another stent in place through the stent that is already there but slightly higher. Will they have to do more coiling? If so, will it be as dangerous as the first time? I am getting really anxious about this, it's so scary and i am worried that it will burst and she will die. I don't mean to sound dramatic but I just feel like I haven't got enough knowledge on this. I have read loads!! If anyone knows anything about recoiling, restenting or recurring aneurysms please let me know!!

Kind regards
