My grandmother only has one kidney.  She normally runs a creatinine >2.0.  She needs to have a cardiac pacemaker placed.  What renal precautions should be used?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

What is her GFR? If normal then the serum electrolytes should be checked. Also, the need to check for anemia and hypertension. Her cardiac status, the ejection fraction should be adequate.  Precautions for other co morbid conditions like diabetes. Please discuss the various risk factors with your doctor before consenting for the procedure.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
