ecg

my husband had a ecg and is in hospital he was told it was inconclusive what does this mean.

In a nutshell it means the tests have not shown anything that is definate or points directly to what could be going on with him meaning that whatever they thought it was probably isn't and usually that means that hopefully they'll continue testing until something is confirmed, they refer out to another doctor if it isn't deemed heart related and that the ECG has not spotted whatever they thought it was.  In other words they don't know because the test results are probably negative for the original diagnosis they thought he was going to have.  An ECG is a confirmation basically.
