My Akita who has not been spayed has nipple discharge too. I just noticed dried yellow around her nipples. I got a warm rag a cleaned it all off. There was very little but now I am worried also. She justb had her fourth birthday.
What do you recommend if I don't see this dried discharge tomorrw? I hope she doesn't have Cancer I love her so much. She is like my own child.
If your dog was spayed at a later date (after her 4 heat cycle) her body would have produced enough reproductive hormones to cause some problems that usually only affect intact female dogs. These include: pyometra (uterus infection), pseudopsyesis (false pregnancy), uterine stump pyometra, and mastitis (bacterial mammary gland infection), not to mention breast and uterine stump cancer. Pus from the nipples is either mammary gland infection or mammary gland cancer. Your veterinarian and perform a cytology and a culture and sensitivity on the discharges to try to obtain a definitive diagnosis.
