Boxer with acute diahrrea

Boxer with acute diahrrea

My 20 month old Boxer is a great friend, very healthy and on the numbers with no messes in the house.  Today, she had an accident and it was diahrrea.  Prior to that earlier today she had solid bowel movements on her walk outside.  she lives indoors and yes, is very pampered!  I just want to know if there is anything i should do or give her to help with clearing up this GI issue.   Thanks!

There are many causes of acute diarrhea.  These include dietary indiscretion, food allergies, pancreatitis, virus or bacterial enteritis, parasites, inflammatory bowel disease (this can begin acutely, but ultimately becomes chronic), stress colitis,  and others.

Since dogs walk barefoot and lick their feet they are always susceptible to parasites, so please have your dog's stool checked for parasites.  Also,  please keep some kind of a food diary, and try to remember if she ate anything out of the ordinary over the last couple of days.  You could try feeding her white, sweet potato, yam or cooked rice and broth for a day or so to try to normalize her stool.

If the diarrhea does not subside quickly, however, please have her evaluated by a vet.
