Broken Leg

My puppy back right leg was ran over by a car last Thursday, I took her to a local vet to find out her leg was broken about 3 inches from her pelvis. The vet put a pin in her leg, and she stayed at the vet for 3 days. Her leg has about 8 stitches. However it has been really hard to keep her from running around, and in the last 2 days her leg has become swollen. She is putting some of her weight on it. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, she is eating and drink very well, and she is as playful as ever. I am just a little worried about the swellening. Is it normal?

She must really have cage rest for at least a month.  Keep her on a leash at all times, even in the house.  When you are not home she should be confined in a small area if you don't have a crate.
