Cat has swollen chin

Cat has swollen chin

Hi,

We have 3 male domestic shorthairs, all are neutered, in very good health and all are indoor only cats. They play wrestle occasionally and get along very well. 3 days ago we noticed a few spots on the 8yr old's chin -small cuts, probably from another cat. Yesterday, his chin became swollen and reddish. He is eating ok, and his teeth look ok. We've tried applying hot moist compresses(thinking it was a subcu abcess (abscess)), but it doesn't seem to have done any good.

Anything else we can try before a vet visit?

Thanks,
Mike&Tara

If it's that swollen, home care has very little chance of resolving the issue.  Feline acne is on the top of the list of original problems, but other causes are also possible.  Seeing your veterinarian for the most appropriate care for your cat is the best.
